End of Alma 30
I really liked this one part and it was awesome. First Alma was talking about how people in the church do labor. Also Korihor was saying how he didn't believe in God and that he didn't believe that Christ would come to the earth. Korihor was saying how Alma didn't have proof of a god but only had his words. Then Alma said to Korihor that he didn't have proof that there wasn't a god that he only had his words. It was awesome.

Alma 46
This chapter inspired me. they executed people for their personal life and that is not fair. It just shows that you have to endure to the end or both sides may hurt you.

Alma 30:21-32
The guy who was preaching against Christ, Korihor, went to another land to try to preach against Christ but once again they took him to their high priest. The high priest asked him why he was doing all that. Korihor answered by saying he didn't believe in their "foolish" traditions. He talked about a lot of the reasons why he was reviling against god. He was sent to Alma and started babbling a bunch of stuff against the gospel.

Helaman 2
Kishkumen was going to kill the new king Helaman. He was foiled in his plan by a servant/friend of the king who had infiltrated the Gadiantons.
But we learn that it will be the Gadiantons that will prove to be the destruction of the Nephites by the end of the Book Of Mormon. That means that we cannot take one victory over wickedness and use it to feel to comfortable. We need to continually work on rooting out ALL evil out of our lives.

Helaman 1
A lot of this chapter is about the political power struggle. The fight to be king... the king getting murdered. The one who ordered the murder to become king, being executed. A new king...
The part that I found personally applicable is how the Lamanites were able to march in to the heart of Nephite territory and take control of Zarahemla. The borders had be strengthened and fortified, but the middle had been left weakened. The stronger parts were able to go and strengthen the weakness pretty quickly. Keep doing the things that are a strength to your spirit, and it will help you make weak things become strong!

Alma tells Helaman that the Nephites would become wicked. Helaman believes Alma prophecy. The Nephites Are good and worship god. This chapter taught me that even a great good can become bad.
Alma 30: 1-20
So many people died from the war that they didn't count their dead. After this they followed the commandments and there was peace in the sixteenth and seventeenth year of the reign of the judges there was continual peace, until the end of the seventeenth year when an Anti-Christ started to preach against the prophecies and the prophets about the coming of Christ. They couldn't punish him though because there was no law against not believing in God. This Anti-Christ lead many of the Nephites into wickedness. When he went to preach about the gospel being fake to the Laminites they were smarter and took him to Ammon.

4 nephi 1-19
this was the story of when nephi slew laban with his own sword he grabbed him by his hair and cut of his head and put on his clothes that is all i read but one quote I realy liked it was in verse 13 it said "it is better that one man perish than a hole nation should dwindle and perish in unbelief .

Moroni offered a way to save the Lamanites by their promise to not come to war with them again. Zerahemnah got mad and tried to kill Moroni. one of Moroni's soldiers cut of Zerahemnah,s scalp. the soldier used the scalp to convince the Lamanites to make the promise. This chapter taught me that everyone deserves a second chance.

Hagoth sails off to unknown lands. Some people think he may have settled the pacific islands. The verses just say lands to the north. Could be up to Alaska, since he set sail in the western sea. But really this was all before Christ's Crucifixion, which altered the land a lot. So, all of this is speculation.
I did find it interesting that Helaman gave all the records to Shiblon (who was very righteous)... and then near the end of the chapter Shiblon gave them to Helaman's son (also named Helaman). I wonder why Helaman the younger did not get them instead of Shiblon in the firs place? too young? not spiritually ready? Again, I can only speculate.

Alma 43
This chapter talks about how the Nephites fought against the Lamanites. The Lamanites out numbered them over 2 to 1. The Nephites may have been out numbered but they built armor to protect themselves. Eventually the Nephites pushed back the Lamanites into a group. This chapter inspired me to start building my spiritual armor for Satan temptations.

verse 4 and 5: Missionary work. Everywhere he went he told people about the standards he knew were true and correct. He gathered as many as he could. He was able to help "convert" thousands!
With those people, they were able to help others who were being oppressed by evil. If he hadn't done anything, the evil would have not been defeated. Fight for what's right! Help others rally to what is right!

Alma 61
Pahoran could have taken offense to Moroni's letter. Moroni really let him have it. It turns out that it wasn't Pahoran's fault that the troops weren't receiving assistance. Some bad guys kicked him out of the capital. Instead of being mad at Moroni for falsely accusing him of being wicked, Pahoran isn't mad, but glad that Moroni is so passionate about protecting his people.
Pahoran is a really good example of NOT taking offense and making the situation worse. Don't get offended.

Alma 29
So first Alma was wishing that he could be an angel so that he could preach to the people to repent. Then he realized that he didn't need to do that because god knows what he is doing. I learned that god does a lot for us, and we don't need to be in the form of angels or a figure head. He gave every nation their own nation and their own language to preach the word of god in. He gives us all the wisdom he thinks fit for us. He mas his plan for us and we need to just go with the flow of life.

Men needed to be mortal and able to die to have the possibility to sin. With sin came repentance. There are consequences for our actions if there was no consequence there would be no reason not to sin. Consequences will allow mercy and repentance. This chapter allowed me to know that I can be forgiven.

Alma 41
If you are a good person and you do good things you will be brought to what is good. If you do bad things and think bad you will be brought to the bad places. If you repent you will be pure again. Try to do your best. be a good person to your extent and repent if you can not.

i Lerner that nephi's father lived in Jerusalem and that he was faverd by the lord on other thing I lernered is that lenient to pray and A oiler of light shown down and he was stuned. then when hie got home he thru himself on his bed amassed at what he saw.then he was reading skripchers and read wo, wo, unto Jerusalem for I have seen thine abominations. At the end it quots but behold I nephi will show unto you the tender mercies of the lord are over all those who hath chosen because of your faith to make them mighty even to the power of deliverance.
Alma 60
Verse 21 really hit me. Do I think the Lord will deliver me from my trials if I just sit around, NOT using all the blessings he has given me? If I want to go to heaven, I've got to do something about it... stop sitting around expecting the Lord to save me without me doing my part.
Verse 22- Will I sit around being lazy while people around me are dying spiritually?
Verse 23- If I think God is OK with that, I'm wrong.

Alma 27
The Lamanites followed the Nephites out into the wilderness and when the Nephites settled down in Jershon they had a big battle. Many Lamanites and Nephites died. Their were many people mourning the death of the thousands of people that died. The Nephites were also rejoicing at the same time because they knew the promises that the lord gave them. They felt sad because of the death and destruction but they were joyful because of the "light of Christ unto life".
